Mrs. Anita Marie Somes, age 100, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2017 at Frederick Health & Rehab Center (formerly Golden LivingCenter). She was the wife of the late Donald William Somes.Born in St. Albans, VT she was the daughter of the late Raymond & Mary Desautels. Anita graduated from Boston Teachers College in 1938. She taught kindergarten until she married Donald in 1944, and resumed her teaching career later in Southboro, Mass. Anita and Donald resided in Massachusetts for many years along the South Shore of Boston before retiring to Sarasota, FL in the mid 1980's. They were avid antique dealers, and Anita loved all types of dancing. She taught tap dancing while they lived in Florida, and she was still tapping when she was 90.Mrs. Somes is survived by three daughters, Dianna Tipping of Weymouth, MA, Leslie Davis of Strafford, MO, and Melissa Coe of Frederick, MD; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives, including her beloved dachshund, Rascal. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert and Raymond Desautels, Jr.Mrs. Somes will be inurned beside her husband in the Massachusetts National Cemetery at Bourne, MA at a later date.
