Anita Christine Villarreal Matovich, 58, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2015, at her family home near Buckeystown, Maryland. She was the beloved wife of Mark M. Matovich Jr, her husband of 35 years and mother of three. She was born on October 21, 1957 in Frederick, Maryland. She was the daughter of the late Leocadio and Delores Villarreal. Anita was a 1975 graduate of Fredrick High School. She had become an accomplished local Realtor and also managed the Discovery Home Owners Association in Walkersville for many years. She welcomed friends and family alike into her life and touched those around her with her beautiful personality. She loved cooking, needlepoint, crafts, traveling, and most of all her family. Surviving in addition to her husband are one daughter, Lindsay Marie Matovich Herbst and husband, Benjamin Herbst of New York; two sons, Phillip Allan Gosnell and wife Courtney Moore of Nashville, Tennessee; and Mark Matthew Matovich III of Frederick; and two grandchildren, Lucy and Henry Gosnell. She is also survived by two brothers Leocadio and Earl Villarreal, and one sister Toni Herrman. She was preceded in death by her sister, Francina Villarreal. The family will receive friends from 1-2pm, Saturday, November 28, 2015 in the Etchison Memorial Chapel at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St, Frederick. The family will share memories at 2pm at the funeral home. Inurnment will be private.
