Amelia Mensch's Obituary
Amelia Mensch, lovingly known as Yiayia, passed away peacefully on September 11th, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on August 19th, 1938, in Athens, Greece, Amelia immigrated to the United States in her twenties, where she met and married Luther Mensch. The two shared a lifetime of love and devotion until Luther's passing.
A graduate of Bridgewater College, Amelia was passionate about education, a value she instilled in her family. Fluent in French, English, and Greek, she shared her love of languages as a teacher, instructing both French and English. Her dedication to learning inspired generations, and her legacy of knowledge lives on through her children and grandchildren.
Her home was always filled with warmth, the smell of homemade Greek delicacies, and the sound of laughter. A masterful cook, her spanakopita and grilled pork chops became family treasures. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she took great pride in teaching them about their Greek roots and the importance of faith, hard work, and compassion.
A devoted member of the Greek Orthodox Church, Amelia’s faith guided her throughout her life. Amelia’s legacy of love, generosity, and grace will live on through her family. She is survived by her children, Kathleen and Vivian, and her four grandchildren, Alexander, Crista, Adrianna, and Nolan, who will continue to carry her spirit in their hearts.
May her memory be eternal.
