Alexander MacDonald McClair, 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at his home.He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Ruth Ada McClair, in 2010. He is survived by his daughter, Laurel Webb, his son, Douglas McClair, and grandchildren, Chrystal Ibex, Drew McClair, Nicole Lyerly and Jason McClair. He is also survived by 4 great grandchildren: Alex, Ava, Lydia and Isaac, and his sister, Margaret Hart.Mr. McClair was born in Glasgow Scotland, but raised in India. As an adult he settled into his career as a Naval Architect and moved to Montreal, Canada, where he met his soon-to-be wife on a blind date (she lived in Boston). He was the son of the late Alexander MacDonald McClair and Margaret Reid McDonald who resided in England.Mr. McClair had a strong passion for history and loved visiting the Civil War battlefields. He also had a love for Scottish music and travel; loved to read and was a great story teller.In his younger years, Mr. McClair served in the Royal Navy Reserve in the UK.
