Alberta Louise Johnson's Obituary
Alberta “Bert” Louise Johnson, 84, of Monrovia, Maryland, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 14, 1942, in Frederick, Maryland, Alberta lived a life centered on family, laughter, and love.
Bert was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Known for her quick wit and sharp sense of humor, she was always the life of the party and had a way of making everyone feel welcome. She was an avid bingo player throughout the Frederick area and was well known for being a lucky winner all the time! She enjoyed cruising the roads with her children and grandchildren looking for yard sales, Longaberger baskets and purses. She especially loved to go on cruises with her daughters. Bert enjoyed gardening, canning, and puzzles, but most of all she loved her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Johnson. She is survived by her companion Ralph Hamilton; her children Gloria Whittington (Calvin “Buddy”), James Johnson II, Darlene Johnson, Carolyn Moore, Steven Johnson (Tracey); her cherished grandchildren, Jason Binnix (Eric Callear), Heather Connelly (Sean), Kristopher Moore, Sabrina Moore and Erica Smith (Bernard); and her 11 great-grandchildren, who brought immeasurable joy to her life: Madelyn, Marissa, Mara, Aubree, Jesse, Bryce, Koen, Riley, Reese, Rayln, and one on the way.
A visitation to celebrate Alberta will be held on June 10, 2026, at Resthaven Funeral Home & Crematory (at Resthaven Memorial Gardens), 9501 Catoctin Mountain Hwy, Frederick, MD from 5 PM to 8 PM. Friends and family are invited to attend and pay their respects. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Frederick County Humane Society in Bert’s memory.
