On Thursday, November 26th, 2020, Margaret Evelyn Holman Deskin-Mischler, loving partner and mother of three children and grandmother of four, passed away at age 92.
She was born on August 12th, 1928, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, and afterward went to New York to study Fashion Design. In 1950 she moved to Washington DC and married Martin Deskin. They raised one son, Victor, and two daughters, Holly and Abigail.
She was full of adventure, had a passion for travel, and loved dreaming up, designing, and sewing her original creations. Margaret was an amazing artist and teacher who was still teaching for the Montgomery County Department of Recreation until March. She also enjoyed antiques, both buying and selling them over the course of many years. Last but not least, Margaret was a professional chef, whose cooking and baking skills were second to none. She was also a Weimaraner lover—showing, breeding and rescuing them, and keeping them as constant lifetime companions.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Simon Holman and Ruth Reder, her husband, Martin Deskin, her sister Helen Holman, and her son Victor Deskin. She is survived by her sister Maxine Kotin, brother Myron Holman, fiancé Fred Mischler, daughters Holly Meyers and Abigail Dion, grandchildren Alexandra Schoch, Nicholas Schoch, Christopher Dion, and Robert (Joey) Dion. She also leaves behind her devoted Weimeraner Jackson.
A private funeral service is being held on December 7th at 2:00 PM. at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. A celebration of Margaret's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Margaret's favorite charity, The DC area Weimaraner Rescue at www.shopdcweim.com. Checks can be mailed to DC Weimaraner Rescue, 1477 Hillandale Rd.
