Lawrence Michael Green

January 11, 1938 ~ February 10, 2022 (age 84)

Lawrence Michael Green, affectionately known as Jabby, Pappy, and Uncle Bo, departed this life at home with his loving family on Thursday, February 10, 2022. He was born January 11, 1938, to the late Norwood H. Green and Catherine V. Lawson-Green-Strawder.

He attended Lincoln School. At the age of 17, he enlisted and served in the Air Force as a cryptographer for three years. He was employed as a waiter captain in charge of banquets and parties at Francis Scott Key Hotel, worked on George Ambush’s bus, and was a carpet installer for various companies. He later became self-employed as a carpet installer until retirement.

Jabby was a member of Pleasant View United Methodist Church in Adamstown, Maryland. Jabby loved spending time with family and friends. He had an infectious smile that would let you know you are loved. At his leisure, Jabby could be found at the racetrack where he loved to bet on the horses. At Christmastime, he would always entertain the family with his melodious quartet style voice. He would serenade us with a beautiful rendition of the Christmas song and then the 12 days of Christmas where his part would always be the “5 Golden Rings.” He loved to cook, and we will miss his special sauerkraut at Thanksgiving, coleslaw at the summertime cookouts, and his year-‘round hamburgers in his special BBQ sauce.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his: loving companion of 55 years, JoAnn Whetzel of Walkersville, MD; two sons, Lawrence Michael Green, Jr. of California and Michael Aaron Green of Walkersville, MD; three grandchildren, Darien Lee (Donte), Rahzel Green and Mariah Green, all of Frederick, MD; great-grandson, Jakarie Lee of Frederick, MD; brother, Richard L. Strawder (Patricia) of Buckeystown, MD; sister, Helen “Muggie” M. Hall of Frederick, MD; three nieces, Robbin Hill (Monte), Carolyn Lee-Smith (Paul), and Tammy Thompson; six nephews, Allen Green, Charles Thompson, Clifford Lee II, William Thompson (Tina), Gary Wayne Thompson, and Rudy Hall; and a host of cousins. He will also be remembered by his devoted friends, Paul Smith, Charles “Chuckie” Simms, Eddie Martin, Stanley Ambush, and Dee and Terry Proper.

Jabby was predeceased by his: two sisters, Barbara Lee Green-Lee and Mary Christina “Teenie” Little; brother-in-law, Charles R. Little; niece, B. Shirlean Lee; and two nephews, Timothy Thompson and John “Charlie” Hall.
