India Antoinnette McCoy-Preacher was born on December 1st ,1971 in Washington, D.C. to Diane McCoy. India’s biological mother passed when India was 1 and she was raised by Alonzo Sykes Sr. and Alma Sykes (Joan). India spent her early years attending DC public schools. She later attended Montgomery County public schools. India completed Job Corp in 1989 with a certification in data entry. India had a wonderful work ethic and was always gainfully employed. Through her work relationships she formed loving and meaningfully friendships.
India truly loved the lord, and she was dedicated to her church as a member of the women’s ministry at I.C.O.G. India loved and cherished her husband, daughters, and grandchildren. India made sure to make every encounter with her fun and full of love. India was always available to lend a helping hand, a word of encouragement, a shoulder to cry on, a ride, a meal and a prayer. Her heart was huge, and she loved and cared for all she encountered.
India was preceded in death by her biological grandfather and grandmother Mack McCoy Jr, Laureen Hall McCoy, her birth mother Diane McCoy, her grandmother Alma Owens, her aunt Kim Webster and her uncle Christopher Owens.
India leaves behind her to cherish her memory her loving husband Albert Preacher, 5 Daughters, Sakinah McCoy, Tanisha (Joseph) Elliott, Kayla McCoy, Kierra McCoy, Tierra McCoy, 4 Grandchildren Jacob Elliot, Chloe Elliot, Kylia McCoy, Ivy McCoy, Father Alonzo Sykes Sr., Mother Alma (Joan) Sykes, 2 Sisters Alaykia Sykes, Shalandra (Shay) (Delonta) Randolph, and 1 Brother Alonzo Sykes Jr. (Peter), 3 Nieces Jannelle Sykes, Siyana Randolph, Deanah Randolph, Godson Zaon McCargo, Best Friend Candace McCargo and an array of other “Kids” Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends.
