She also enjoyed eating seafood and going fishing and crabbing with her husband and daughter. When her grandson was born, Doris was a devoted grandmother and watched him during the daytime while her daughter worked, and he also spent many weekends at his grandparents’.

Doris hosted many holiday dinners, turkey dinners being her all-time best and her oyster dressing, baked beans, mashed potatoes, chocolate fudge, and chocolate pie were favorites among many of her dinner guests! She also made a fantastic hog maw, homemade potato chips, peanut butter cookies and pan fried cat fish!
