James May “Henry”, 67, of Jefferson, MD, passed away on November 2, 2019 at Frederick Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 11, 1952, in Alexandria, VA to the late James Ben and Arlena May.
Henry enjoyed the outdoors, being around horses, hunting, fishing, camping and gardening. He had an immense passion for muscle cars and Harleys. Henry started his career in restaurants and switched to the construction field where he built and remodeled houses and was known by all as a “Jack of all Trades.” He took great pride in renovating log cabins and loved masonry work. He was known to help friends and families with repairs without being asked. He was a people person, talking to anyone who would listen. He always made it a point, regardless of time of day, to be there for you. He lived his life with an “open-door” policy. He eventually settled in Jefferson, MD with his family and worked at Luckett’s Antique Store for 23 years utilizing his many talents as a handyman, building long lasting bonds and friendships. He considered them his second family. Henry touched many people throughout his life, and will be missed by all.
He is survived by His Donna. Daughter Trisha Somers and significant other, Matt Sellers. Grandson Kaleb Sellers. Siblings; Bennie May and wife Digna, Vivian Hughes and husband Edward, John May and wife Kathy, and Paula Smith and fiancé Charles Payne. Eight nieces and nephews and 12 great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Sydney Dale May and James Welden May. And his dog, Outlaw.
Funeral arrangements are private and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with Resthaven Funeral Services, Skkot Cody, P.A., Frederick.
